American Foreign Service Association Looking to Partner with U.S. Community Colleges

I’d like to pass on what may be an interesting opportunity to access materials and speakers on the topic of U.S. diplomacy and the Foreign Service.

***

The American Foreign Service Association is offering free virtual programming geared toward college students to share the fundamentals of the work U.S. diplomats do overseas in support of our national security.

AFSA has a cadre of speakers — retired members of the U.S. Foreign Service – who are available for speaking engagements that will be of interest to your students. In addition to outlining the importance of diplomacy and the role of the Foreign Service, speakers are also able to share the experiences from their careers, often with an expertise in certain regions and/or foreign policy topics.

If you are interested in learning more about this free program and/or inquiring about speaker availability, please contact: speakers@afsa.org.  AFSA also has available free resources and materials which might be helpful to you and your students.

Lastly, AFSA also has internship opportunities that may be interesting to your students. Currently, AFSA is seeking an intern for the spring semester to work with the Communications and Outreach team. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this would be a remote position. The details are here: Communications and Outreach Internship

This is a great opportunity for students to learn about the Foreign Service, to develop communications and outreach skills, and add to their writing portfolios.

Interested students should contact Nadja Ruzica at ruzica@afsa.org.
