The Association of Faculties for Advancement of Community College Teaching (AFACCT) the Maryland organization of faculty teaching at 2-year institutions, will hold its 30th conference January 9-10, 2020 at the Community College of Baltimore County/Catonsville, Catonsville, MD. The conference will bring together 400 faculty and administrators teaching in Maryland institutions.
This year’s conference theme is “Global Learning: Reflecting on the Past, Looking to the Future.” Conference sessions will focus on global and international education. A draft program is attached.
David J. Smith will be the keynote presenter on the second day of the conference. He will speak on “Global Learning: Uncovering Success Stories and Planning a Course for the Future.” David serves on the board of the NCAC Fulbright Association.
The conference will feature two Fulbright Program alum panels. On Thursday and Friday alum and current Fulbright grantees will speak about their experiences. Panelists will include: Ashley Morefield, Fulbright ETA (Cote d’Ivoire, 2018); Adiar Ismailov, Fulbright Fellow (from Kyrgyz Republic, 2019); Andrew Stinavage, Fulbright ETA (Benin, 2003); Lisa Bochey, Fulbright Scholar (Peru, 2016), Fulbright Association; Dan Fenyvesi Fulbright Scholar (Nicaragua, 2014); Brad K. Hounkpati, Fulbright Fellow (from Togo, 2011-2014); and David J. Smith, Fulbright Scholar (Estonia, 2003). Fulbrighters Brad K. Hounkpati and Maryem Larhmaid, Fulbright Fellow (from Morocco, 2018) will present separately during the conference.
If you are a Fulbright grantee (past or current), the conference is offering a reduced rate of $60 for the entire conference, $40 per day. Register here, and pay when you arrive. Regular conference rates are $75 for the two days, and $50 for one day.
