Conflict Resolution Youth Summit, George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, 7/15-7/19/19

The Conflict Resolution Youth Summit is a one-week summer day program held on the Fairfax campus of George Mason University for rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students interested in exploring some of today’s toughest problems through the lens of conflict analysis and resolution. It will be held July 15-19, 2019 at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

Offered by the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University, a preeminent leader in innovative teaching, cutting-edge research and engaged practice, this program will introduce students to topics within the field of conflict resolution, such as

  • Social and Political Action
  • Global Engagement
  • Justice & Reconciliation
  • Collaborative Leadership
  • Interpersonal Dynamics

Students will learn to be engaged citizens and leaders of peace through simulation labs, field trips, and workshops led by experts in the field.

I am conflict resolution educator, peacebuilding trainer and career coach. My professional experience has spanned the legal, think tank, international, quasi-government, and higher and secondary education sectors. I have taught at all higher education levels: community college, 4-year undergraduate (private, public, religious), graduate, and international. In 2003-2004 I was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar teaching at the University of Tartu in Estonia. From 2005 -2012 I was a senior program officer and senior manager at the U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington where I managed programs for colleges and universities and developed training for faculty and students. I work with all groups and educational institutions to support peacebuilding awareness.
