For past year and a half I have been pursuing a graduate certificate in positive psychology online at the University of Missouri. Positive psychology is a branch of the larger psychology field, but has only been recognized in the last 25 years due to the work of Martin Seligman, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, and others who articulated the need for psychology to focus on our strengths and assets rather than shortcomings. I completed the 15 hour program in May. As part of my career coaching, teaching, and my leadership of the Forage Center, I will be increasingly incorporating positive psychology approaches and strategies. It was a rewarding program.
