Today in 1869: Birth of Mahatma Gandhi

Mohandas K. Gandhi – better known as Mahatma Gandhi – was born today, October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, India.   During the coming year leading up to his 150th birthday, groups and organizations will be honoring his legacy and reminding us of his work.

The National Gandhi Museum in New Delhi is a valuable source for his work and life.  The museum has posted several interviews of Gandhi during his lifetime at its website.  If you are interested in hearing his actual words, click here or below.
