Last week’s AFACCT meeting featured two days of programs for faculty and professionals on global learning. The Association of Faculties for the Advancement of Community College Teaching is a Maryland-based organization representing faculty at the state’s 16 community colleges. This was the 30th conference, held at the Community College of Baltimore County/Catonsville: some 350 professionals attended.
This year’s theme was “Global Learning” and featured sessions on a range of pedagogical and substance-based approaches to teaching and learning. Thursday’s keynote speaker was Tony Hawkins, provost at Frederick Community College who spoke on “Exploring the Global Learning Opportunities at Community Colleges.”
I had the honor of being the Friday keynote presenter where I spoke on “Global Learning: Uncovering Success Stories and Planning a Course for the Future.” My talk will be posted here soon.
Also, I was able to develop two panels of Fulbright alum and current grantees speaking about their work in the field. My thanks to the following colleagues for participating in the program!
