Community College Conference Featured Fulbright Alum and Keynote on Global Learning

Last week’s AFACCT meeting featured two days of programs for faculty and professionals on global learning. The Association of Faculties for the Advancement of Community College Teaching is a Maryland-based organization representing faculty at the state’s 16 community colleges. This was the 30th conference, held at the Community College of Baltimore County/Catonsville: some 350 professionals attended.

This year’s theme was “Global Learning” and featured sessions on a range of pedagogical and substance-based approaches to teaching and learning. Thursday’s keynote speaker was Tony Hawkins, provost at Frederick Community College who spoke on “Exploring the Global Learning Opportunities at Community Colleges.”

I had the honor of being the Friday keynote presenter where I spoke on “Global Learning: Uncovering Success Stories and Planning a Course for the Future.” My talk will be posted here soon.

Aidar Ismailov (Fulbright Fellow from Kyrgyz Republic, 2019-2020)

Andrew Stinavage (Fulbright ETA to Benin, 2018-2019)

Lisa Bochey (Fulbright ETA to Peru, 2016-2017)

Dan Fenyvesi (Fulbright Scholar to Nicaragua, 2014-2015)

Brad K. Hounkpati (Fulbright Fellow from Togo, 2011-2014)

We were also joined by Maryem Larhmaid (Fulbright Fellow from Morocco, 2018-2020), who presented by “Technology and Reading: Opportunities and Challenges.” Photos from the panels are below.
