At the October Alliance for Peacebuilding Conference in Washington, DC filmmaker Abigail Disney spoke about the depiction of violence in film and what Hollywood and media can do to respond. I’ve sat through a lot of talks over the years, but this is one of the best I’ve heard. As you might know, she is the grand niece of Walt Disney. She produced the acclaimed “Pray the Devil Back to Hell” in 2008 which depicts the peace movement in Liberia.
The talk is about an hour, but it is worth it. If you are an academic, this is worth showing with your students, especially in looking at media.
